Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Solutions Architect Networking with strong expertise in Azure networking to design, implement, and manage our enterprise network infrastructure. You will play a critical role in ensuring high availability, scalability, and security of both on-premises and cloud-based network systems. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver advanced network solutions, optimize performance, and contribute to cloud migration strategies, particularly in Microsoft Azure. The Infrastructure Solutions Architect Networking contributes to the overall technology roadmap.

Key Responsibilities:
– Network Architecture & Design: Design, implement, and maintain enterprise network solutions (LAN, WAN, VPN, firewalls) with a special focus on Azure networking services such as Virtual Networks (VNet), Azure Firewall, Network Security Groups (NSGs), and Azure ExpressRoute.
– Cloud Integration: Work closely with cloud teams to integrate on-premises network infrastructure with Azure-based environments, ensuring smooth connectivity, security, and optimal performance.
– Azure Networking: Manage and optimize Azure networking components, including VNet peering, traffic management, load balancing, and hybrid networking (ExpressRoute, VPN Gateway).
– Network Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve network issues in both cloud and on-prem environments, ensuring minimal downtime and performance degradation.
– Network Security: Implement best practices for network security in hybrid environments, including firewalls, VPNs, security groups, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
– Automation & Monitoring: Automate network configuration and monitoring using tools like Azure Network Watcher, Azure Automation, and PowerShell scripting. Implement proactive monitoring systems to identify potential issues before they affect operations.
– Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize network performance, identifying opportunities for improvement in both cloud and on-premises environments.
– Documentation: Maintain detailed and up-to-date documentation of network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
– Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to peers and help drive continuous improvement in network operations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
– Experience: 5+ years in network engineering, with at least 2 years of hands-on experience with Azure networking services.
– Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
– Certifications: Azure certifications (such as Azure Network Engineer Associate) and/or relevant Cisco certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP) are highly desirable.
– Cloud Networking: Strong understanding of Azure networking components (VNet, NSG, Azure Load Balancer, Azure Traffic Manager, ExpressRoute, VPN Gateway).
– Traditional Networking: Expertise in configuring and managing enterprise-grade network equipment (e.g. Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, etc.), including firewalls, routers, switches, and VPNs.
– Security: Solid understanding of network security principles and experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPN technologies in both cloud and traditional networks.
– Automation: Proficiency in network automation and scripting (PowerShell, Python, or similar), ARM templates, Terraform or other scripting tools is a plus
– Monitoring Tools: Familiarity with monitoring and diagnostic tools such as Azure Network Watcher, SolarWinds, Wireshark, or equivalent.
– Soft Skills: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, excellent communication, and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Skills:
– Experience with hybrid cloud environments and integrating Azure with other cloud providers (AWS, GCP).
– Familiarity with Kubernetes networking and containerized environments.
– Experience with SD-WAN technologies.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Virginia Department of Elections (ELECT) is seeking a Project Manager for the implementation of the Statewide Voter Registration System (SVRS). SVRS is a statewide voter registration and election management system. This is a high-risk project and will require strict adherence to the requirements in this posting. It is preferred that the PM work a hybrid schedule with minimum of three days per week in the ELECT offices in Richmond, VA, however this is open for discussion.
SVRS is a high-risk project with high visibility and significant complexity, therefore the SVRS Project Manager will be required to work in a fast-paced, potentially stressful environment.

SVRS is currently under contract and undergoing development.
The duties of the SVRS Project Manager will include:
· Daily interaction with stakeholders, project team members, and ELECT staff.
· Attendance at virtual and in-person project meetings daily.
· Management of project performance metrics and recording of data in CTP.
· Adhere to requirements of Commonwealth Project Management Standard.
· Coordination with SVRS contractor project management team for all aspects of project performance.
· Work in conjunction with members of the ELECT SVRS project team.
· Facilitate communication between SVRS contractor PM team and ELECT staff.
· Oversee coordination of SVRS project calendar.
· Conduct briefings on SVRS project status to internal and external audiences, including the Interagency Oversight Committee.
The required education and experience for this position are as follows:
· Active Project Management Institute Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
· Documented risk management experience.
· Successful completion of a Category 1 or 2 Commonwealth of Virginia project of $5M or more, or completion of a non-COV project with a value greater than $10M as PM of record. (pls make sure their exp with this is HIGHLIGHTED on their resume)
· Bachelor’s degree is appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience.
· Familiarization with the Commonwealth Technology Portfolio highly desirable.

Job Title: Technical support Analyst

The Help Desk /Tech Support role is responsible for providing computer information systems support via the phone, email or at a customer workstation. Also responsible for triage of incoming new calls and monitoring of existing calls for completion.

Support duties include but are not limited to network connectivity troubleshooting, desktop hardware, OS, printers, phone, and Multimedia support. The candidate will need to have a basic understanding of Active Directory in a multiple Domain network environment. They must also have a fundamental understanding of Personal Computer and Information Systems operations. The position includes ensuring that department manuals are current and items such as manuals, reference guides, IT procedures, diagrams and other technical documents remain up to date. As necessary, the ideal candidate will assist in the authoring of new troubleshooting procedures, guidelines and diagrams. The candidate must possess excellent interpersonal skills for communicating as their primary job will be customer facing. The candidate also must be able to perform in a team environment

Help Desk Tech Job Duties include:

1.Respond to and direct help desk tickets to other technicians for resolution. DGS uses an internal application for ticketing. Exp with Remedy or similar ticketing apps is fine.
2.Perform installation and troubleshooting of PC’s, printers, iPhones and software.
3.Daily inspections of server room and data closets
4.Manage backup tape rotation and cases for offsite pickup
5.Perform network jack activation for correct VLAN
6.Basic customer training and support on Mitel phone operations. Prefer MiTel, but will accept experience with other phone systems.
